Melonbooks Taipei and Toranoana Taipei, first round of hour checks
2021-02-10(Wed)
Started this notebook with the two Taipei stores. Melonbooks Taipei and Toranoana Taipei both publish daily hours on their own pages, so the check is a plain comparison. The rule from this round on: only hours written on the store's own current page get written here.
Akihabara round: five Melonbooks stores in one afternoon
2021-05-14(Fri)
Checked the Akihabara and pickup stores against the chain index. Two stores listed hours that had drifted from the index, so the store page won over the index in both cases. The chain index stays useful for finding that a store exists; the store page stays the source for hours.
Comic Market summer was cancelled last year; the circle list teaches patience
2021-08-20(Fri)
C101 had not opened registration when this was written. The venue, Tokyo Big Sight, still showed the standard hall map. Nothing to write about dates yet, so this note is about the habit: when an organizer has not published, the notebook waits instead of guessing.
Mandarake Complex and Mandarake Nakano keep different closing days
2021-11-03(Wed)
The two big Mandarake buildings close on different weekdays. Mixing them up means a closed door. This round wrote each store's closing day next to its hours on the bookstore page, where the two used to share one line.
Desktop builds move to a signed update file
2022-01-18(Tue)
The desktop updater switched to a signed update file so a mirror cannot hand the app a fake build. The download page lists the same four files the updater checks. No store hours were touched this round.
Fancy Frontier returned to Expo Dome this spring
2022-04-09(Sat)
FF went back to the Expo Dome at Taipei Expo Park after the paused years. The organizer's page gave two days with clock times, so the events page took them and marked the event as ended after it closed.
Osaka Nippombashi and Kobe in one Shinkansen trip
2022-07-23(Sat)
Both Kansai Melonbooks stores publish hours on their own pages. Kobe's shorter Sunday hours were the easy thing to miss; they are now written exactly as the store page has them.
Kyoto and Fukuoka Tenjin close the southern loop
2022-10-08(Sat)
Kyoto and Melonbooks Fukuoka Tenjin round out the west. Fukuoka's hours match the chain index; Kyoto's page had a seasonal notice that the index did not, so the notice won.
Toranoana Taipei stopped publishing daily hours; the page says so
2023-02-25(Sat)
The Taipei Toranoana page no longer lists per-day hours. The bookstore page keeps the address and the line that daily hours are not published there. Writing a made-up timetable would be worse than writing none.
The hour-check cron starts; six pages rewrite themselves at 04:15
2023-06-10(Sat)
A nightly job now re-renders the bookstore and event pages on the server. It only rewrites what the sources gave; it never invents hours and never touches download links. Misses are logged, not patched by hand.
Pier-2 Anime Festival in Kaohsiung, two halls and a heat wave
2023-08-12(Sat)
FFK at Pier-2 spans several warehouses on the harbor. The organizer's own schedule carried two days with clock times; the cosplay contest's own timetable lives on a separate page, and the events page does not copy it onto the main card.
Shosen Book Tower's Melonbooks corner gets its own card
2024-01-27(Sat)
The Melonbooks corner inside Shosen Book Tower is not a standalone store; its hours follow the building. It now has its own card so nobody reads the building's hours as the chain's hours.
C104 registration week and a lesson in waiting
2024-05-11(Sat)
Registration windows opened and closed within days and the venue page did not change. The events page gained nothing this week; the notebook gained this line. Checking weekly beats rewriting hourly.
Kashiwa, Hachioji, Shizuoka, Toyohashi: the four commuter stores
2024-08-17(Sat)
Four stores around Tokyo checked in one pass. Hachioji's building entrance changed and the address stayed the same; the card notes the entrance, not the address, because the address did not move.
Android 3.0 line settles; release page stays on the public tag
2025-01-11(Sat)
The Android release notes moved to the public GitHub tag and the site links there instead of hosting files. Download links are the one thing the nightly job is not allowed to touch.
A fifth year of hour checks, measured in one number
2025-05-17(Sat)
Counting from the first Taipei round in 2021, the bookstore page has been rechecked every few months for four years. The number that matters is not the count of rounds; it is the number of times a published hour turned out wrong on the store's own page. That count stays small, which is why the rule is: copy, do not correct.
Petit Fancy and Reality Fantasy share a weekend; both go on one card
2025-11-08(Sat)
Two organizers, one venue, one weekend. The events page keeps them on a single card because the venue, the days, and the hours are the same on both official pages.
The paper redesign ships
2026-03-14(Sat)
The whole site moved to the paper style: ink headers, serif mastheads, one footer everywhere. Nothing behind the pages changed — same checks, same links, same rule about not writing hours that no store page states.
Archive page opens: attendance records from 2015 to 2020
2026-07-18(Sat)
A new archive page lists the CG and cosplay events and offline meetups the studio attended between 2015 and 2020, with venues and street addresses. Event names, dates, and venues are public record; the attendance is the studio's own log.
This notebook
2026-10-14(Wed)
Twenty entries over five and a half years, one every month or three. The next one lands when there is something real to write. That has been the rule since the first Taipei round.
Comic Market C98 (May 2020) was cancelled; no row is written for it.
